Its dedicated staff coordinates special education services/programs for (5) member school districts: Arrowhead Union High School, Lake Country School, North Lake School, Richmond School, and Stone Bank School.
ADSEC's purpose is to provide a continuum of special education services for students with disabilities, ages 3 but not yet 21, who have not yet graduated from high school with a regular high school diploma. We do this by state and federal law, and because we believe every child deserves the best education we can provide.
ADSEC'smission:
· Place the needs of the children first
· Serve all students where they learn best
· Meet or exceed all educational and operational standards
· Work as a team with parents
· Openly communicate with all stakeholders within ADSEC and in our wider community
The Cooperative Advantage to Families, Districts, and Taxpayers:
Through the greater collective power of ADSEC, its' member schools reap many benefits, including:
Cost-sharing and greater purchasing power. The collaborative model creates very positive economies of scale, easing budgetary burdens.
Ability to provide a full continuum of services. Due to greater size and resources, ADSEC North Lake, and the successful transition activities.can offer a wide range of special services, including the Speech Phonology Program housed at
Staffing flexibility. As student enrollment needs change, staffing flexibility meets the challenges. There have been few lay-offs in the history of the cooperative.
Quality teaching staff. Increased job security in the cooperative model helps ADSEC retain top quality staff, even in times of major special education shortages in the state and nation
Financial risk reduction. Districts do not experience major financial surprises since all five districts share costs of services.
Special Schools Filling Special Needs . . . Arrowhead area schools first formed a special education cooperative in 1979. Through many years and changes, the commitment continues strong. Today, ADSEC provides special education and related services to approximately 365 students K-12 in the five member schools.
