David P. Balmer Athletic Scholarship

Five $1,000 scholarships are awarded annually.

In 1961, David Balmer began his teaching and football coaching career at Arrowhead High School. He was head football coach from 1961 – 1971, during which time the team won three conference titles. He became the athletic director in 1966, a position he held until his retirement in 1990. Following his death in 1994, the David P. Balmer Athletic Scholarship was established in his memory.

 In keeping with tradition, the Arrowhead Athletic Booster Club will award up to five Balmer Athletic Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to graduating seniors who have:

 · Received a varsity athletic letter at Arrowhead

· Displayed sound character and strong leadership skills

· Exhibited team play and good sportsmanship

· Earned the respect of coaches, teachers, peers and the community

· Demonstrated solid academic performance

· Made a commitment to pursue higher education



The Balmer Scholarship is now administered through the Arrowhead Scholarship Fund. Please use the application in the Arrowhead Scholarship Fund.
