Due to the popularity of our summer physical education offerings and to provide a fair and equitable enrollment process, we will again be using a lottery process sign-up for summer physical education courses. This will alleviate waiting in line and help students in planning their schedules for the 2010-2011 school year.
Registration forms will be sorted by grade level. Two students, witnessed by two staff members, will draw names starting with the incoming senior class. This will be followed in order by drawings from the incoming junior, sophomore and freshman classes. Students may list first, second, and third choices, if desired. The names drawn will get their first choice if it’s available or their second choice if it’s not. When the classes are filled, names will be placed on a waiting list in the order they are drawn. If a student only lists a first choice and it’s already full, he or she will be put on the waiting list.
Included with this letter are course descriptions with dates and a registration form. Please note the dates and attendance policy for each course. Note that due to popularity, the Adventure Physical education course will almost certainly be filled by seniors and perhaps a few juniors. Incoming freshman looking for a summer experience are encouraged to choose the traditional physical education offering.
Parents must turn in registration forms to the North Campus office by 11:00 am January 21. Forms should not be turned into the elementary school. January 21 names will be drawn. The results will be posted on the AHS web site by Tuesday, January 26. Students will be assigned to a class and time. No switching of classes or times will be allowed to be fair to all involved.
Summer School Courses and Camps: This year’s summer offerings and Camps will be published on-line only. They will be available on the Arrowhead web site in March. We will send out an email to notify families when it is available. Each campus office will have hard copies of the offerings.
