Anyone, regardless of playing ability, interested in playing chess competitively can join the AHS Chess Club and Team. We offer instruction and competition to challenge each player to become better.Our season runs from the end of October through mid-March and consists of practices, weekly matches verses other schools and three tournaments. Our team consists of a varsity team, which is the top five rated players, a JV-team, consisting of the next five highest rated players, and scrimmagers, who don't play as part of a team, but for individual rating. Ratings constantly change, giving players many opportunities to advance.
Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the South Campus library classroom. Anyone interested in becoming part of the chess club should contact the Chess Coach, TBA.
