Arrowhead High School is the only public school offering the sport of field hockey in the State of Wisconsin. The field hockey season starts tryouts in mid-August and the season concludes by the end of October. We field teams at the Varsity-1, Varsity-2, Junior Varsity-1, and Junior Varsity-2 levels. Girls who make the team are placed on one of the teams based on their ability and performance during tryouts. Tryouts are open to all freshman, sophomore, junior and senior girls. Each team carries a roster of approximately 16 to 20 girls. Schools sponsoring teams in our conference are Brookfield Academy, University School of Milwaukee, University Lake School, Divine Savior Holy Angels, Trinity Academy, Kettle Moraine High School and Wayland Academy. In addition to our conference schedule, we play non-conference games with high school teams from Northern Illinois and we travel to a tournament in St. Louis in September.
The Head Coach for the field hockey program is Melissa Brengosz . Her Assistant Coaches are Mary Culligan , Kristy Borkenhagen and Jamie Sefert-Schwind. Practice fields and game fields are located near Arrowhead North Campus just North of the Mullett Ice Center. Teams practice every day after school and often play games on Saturdays. Practices usually last 2 hours. Students provide practice attire and the school provides the game uniforms. Athletes will also need to provide mouth-guards, shin-guards, cleated shoes and running shoes. We will provide sticks for beginner players.
Organizational meetings for any interested girls are held during the month of March. Further details will be explained at this organizational meeting. Notice of the date, time and location of the organizational meeting will be announced and published well in advance of the meeting date.
