AHS Girls Lacrosse is a member of MAYLA (Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association) with close ties to MALA (Madison Area Lacrosse Association). Varsity teams in these associations are from Arrowhead and Brookfield (MAYLA) and LaFollette, Madison Westside, Middleton, Sun Prairie and Verona (MALA). MAYLA JV teams are fielded by Arrowhead HS, Brookfield, University School of Milwaukee, Oconomowoc and Kettle Moraine HS. Waukesha may also field a JV team this year. Some non-conference games may be played against other Wisconsin and out-of-State teams.
Mission Statement
To develop a positive environment where high school athletes learn and develop skills to play competitive lacrosse. Emphasis is placed on showing respect to individuals, teams, coaches, officials, and honoring all forms of athletic achievement. Players will develop confidence, good sportsmanship, and a love of sports which will enrich their lives for years to come.
AHS Lacrosse is self-funded and supported by the parents of the players. Registration fees and fund raiser proceeds are applied to the cost of referees, busses, field equipment (goals, balls, field marking equipment), goalie equipment, and coaches. All other costs are the responsibility of each player. These include, but are not limited to, equipment required to play lacrosse (stick, eye protection and mouthguard), transportation to and from all practices, spirit wear, warm-ups, tournament entry fees and uniforms.

In 2007 and 2008, Arrowhead fielded two varsity and two junior varsity teams. The number of teams fielded depends on the number of participating athletes and coaches.
The AHS Girls Lacrosse program is coached by Head Coach Connie Tjarksen who played Division I Varsity Lacrosse for four years at Yale University, earning Regional All-American and All-Ivy honors. She played club lacrosse post-graduate for four years. The Coaching Staff is rounded out by Coaches Deborah Mahuta, Tom Truttschel, Joann Huck and Jerry Nikolaus.
