UPDATE: With all our fund raising efforts, we raised a total of $3000.00 for Guitars for Vets! Photos and video clips of our concert to come. Or you can click on this link http://www.guitarsforvets.org/arrowhead.html to see photos taken of the event by Guitars for Vets on their website.
The International Student Club's Citizenship Initiative Project (along with the American Problems Classes) is again for the Veterans, but this year we are raising money for the "Guitars for Vets" program. They are using a music therapy approach to reach out to those Vets diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Each Vet in the program is given their own guitar and guitar lessons from professional teachers. For more information see: www.guitarsforvets.org
We have lined up three accomplished guitarists for the evening: Bill Camplin, Jason Klagstad and LJ Booth.*
The date is Friday, November 7. The concert and coffee house will be in the North Campus Commons of Arrowhead High School, 800 North Avenue, Hartland. Doors open at 6:30 PM for an open mic, featuring Arrowhead English teacher Frank Balistreri on guitar, as well as interested students. The Guitar Concert starts at 7:30 PM. We will be offering an array of beverages and desserts for sale as well. Coffee will be provided by Dryhootch, another Veterans' organization: www.dryhootch.org.

Tax Deductible contributions can be made as well. Please make those checks payable to "Guitars for Vets". They have official non-profit status. They can be sent to "ISC, Arrowhead High School, 800 North Avenue, Hartland, WI 53029".
*LJ Booth: "LJ Booth is as literate as they come. As a lyricist, he has the light touch of Lyle Lovett, the unabashed honesty of Leonard Cohen and the sprawling, joyous life of Walt Whitman. The plainness of his imagery and the economy of his phrasing is only made more effective by his glittering guitar parts and the simple grace of his songs." - Performing Songwriter
*Bill Camplin: Bill Camplin is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist who began playing professionally in the Milwaukee area in the late 1960's. Bill writes and arranges his own material and has produced a considerable body of work. Bill was an integral part of the Milwaukee acousitc folk scene for many years and appeared regularly at various clubs including the Blue River Cafe, Number Unos, The Crystal Palace, The Avante Garde and the 19th Street Coffee House. Bill presently owns and runs "Cafe Carpe" in Fort Atkinson, a listening space in which he and others of his ilk love to play.
*Jason Klagstad: Jason is considered one of the premier live and studio musicians in the Milwaukee area and has been playing professionally for over 35 years and with Bill Camplin since 1974. He has been a member of several area and nationally known bands, including stints with Howie Epstein (Tom Petty), Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads), Arroyo, Color Radio and Warner Bros. recording artist, Semi-Twang and the local rock band favorite, Plumb Loco.
