Problem of the Week

This Week's Question

A car odometer counts the number of total miles a car travels. It starts counting at 000,000 and goes up to 999,999. If a person drives their car 999,999 miles, how many times will a 1 appear? (Example, the number 1,101 has 3 ones in it and 1,102 has 2 ones for a total of 5 ones.)

Last Week's Problem

A palindrome is a word, line, number, or sentence that reads the same backwards as forward (e.g. 15451). Ten first ten digits 0, 1, 2, 3, …, 9 are palindromes, but 10 is not. How many palindromes are there among the first 1 million whole numbers?
