Warhawks Cross Country
If you want to get in the best shape of your life and have a fun time doing it, then running Cross Country at Arrowhead is your sport. Cross Country is a challenging and rewarding sport. There are no cuts for Cross Country, and the only requirement is that you come to practice and meets prepared to run hard and compete against the other runners and more importantly yourself.
We encourage all runners to join one of the best programs in the state. Our biggest strength as a team is all of the girls pulling for each other in every practice and every meet.
1. Make sure to sign up for the 2019-2020 cross country season by registering on the team website.
2. Complete a physical or alternate year card and turn the form in at the activities office.
3. Complete the concussion form sent out by the activities office. This needs to be filled out online.
4. Pay any athletic dues to the activities office.
The team will practice Monday - Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and Saturday practices will begin at 8:00 AM and end around 9:45 AM.
The only equipment needed to run is clothing suitable to run in, a good pair of running shoes, and a watch. The team will meet to start practices on the Arrowhead Track.
The team participates in eight to nine different meets during the season. All races on the Varsity and JV level are 2 ½ - 3.1 miles. Freshmen and new cross country runners start the season running a 2-mile race at the first meet and will run 2 ½ - 3.1 miles after that. A freshman can make the Varsity team if they are one of the seven fastest runners on the team. Arrowhead hosts three meets during the season with the largest being the Arrowhead Invite.
