Tim O’Driscoll
There isn’t enough room to capture all of Tim O’Driscoll’s accomplishments and what he has meant to Arrowhead students and athletes. “OD” will go down in AHS history as not only a great baseball coach, but also as a great teacher, mentor, friend and athlete. Whether receiving Player/Coach/Teacher/Person of the Year honors, he’s truly had a positive impact on thousands of lives.
As the AHS varsity baseball coach, Coach O’Driscoll’s record was 742 wins, 328 losses. For 35 years, his teams never had a losing season…in fact, they had 30 seasons with 20 or more wins. His storied career includes:
- 14 Conference titles
- 6 trips to the State Tournament
- 2 second place State finishes
- 2 State championships (1979 and 2009)
In 2010, the AHS baseball diamond was named “The O’Driscoll Field” in OD’s honor, plus the high school’s baseball team retired his jersey “Number 22” in recognition of all his accomplishments as a baseball player.
Did you know…in addition to baseball, Coach O’Driscoll also coached football for 23 years (freshman and sophomore teams, plus varsity assistant) and basketball for 11 years (varsity assistant and freshmen). He also was the announcer for 20 years for the girls and boys basketball home games.
After a stellar Arrowhead athletic career (he earned 7 varsity letters), OD was a 4-year varsity pitcher at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He also was in the United States Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976, and began teaching and coaching at AHS in 1970, after graduating from college.
Here’s an interesting side note: Tim O’Driscoll has worked for Major League Baseball for the past 26 seasons as the official scorer of the Milwaukee Brewers.
