Frank Marek Family
Frank J. Marek was instrumental in launching several “firsts” for the Arrowhead School District’s community through both giving and strategic vision. He was a huge believer in the talent of the kids, teachers, coaches and fellow community members and worked hard to help bring dreams to reality.
Frank was the leader behind the Lake Country Phoenix swim team, getting a group of parents and talented coaches together to start the team. He helped create a leadership team, marketing strategy and provided initial funding to get the team off the ground. In the first year, the team won the State Championship and became a contender on the national scene. Today, Lake Country Phoenix is still a dominant force locally and nationally, providing talent to Arrowhead who has captured multiple State titles over the years.
Former football coach Tom Taraska has attributed much of his success to Frank, stating he was a mentor and a friend. He helped Coach Taraska design, build and fund the first state-of-the-art weight room — used not only by the football team, but the entire athletic body at AHS. He also donated the first electronic scoreboard at Pfeiffer Field to improve and enhance the stadium.
The legacy of Frank Marek in the community lives on through his children, Tami Marek-Loper and Fuzzy Marek and their respective families. In keeping with Frank's legacy, Tami and Fuzzy donated a new scoreboard at Taraska Stadium to update the original, providing a first of its kind at the local high school level. In addition, both Tami and Fuzzy were on the board to build the new stadium and were major donors of the project - a donation made in their father's honor.
The Frank Marek Family all reside in the Lake Country area with the third generation attending Lake Country School and carrying out the family tradition in various sports. Frank’s legacy lives through the eyes of his children and grandchildren as you will continue to see throughout their community work and endeavors.
