2016-17 School Year Recognitions

• US News & World Report named AHS as one of the 2017 Best High Schools in the nation
• The Washington Post again named AHS as one of  "America's Most Challenging High Schools"
• Over half of Arrowhead’s students earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better (honors program)
• Arrowhead received a 4-star/82.4 'Exceeds Expectations' rating on WI DPI's Wisconsin Accountability Report Card, placing AHS in the top 3.5% of 510 high schools. 
• Arrowhead team, clubs and classes facilitated over 160 community service projects during the year, totaling over10,000 hours of volunteerism. 
• Of 28 teams that compete in a conference, 15 teams were Conference Champions. 
• Seventeen teams won their respective Sectional Championships, qualifying for state championships.
• State Champions include girls golf, boys golf, girls ski, boys ski, girls lacrosse and State Runner-ups include girls cross country, boys cross country, girls field hockey and boys basketball. 
• AHS awarded 16th straight Journal Sentinel Preps Plus School of the Year honor
• The Gaming Club earned a top eight finish in the first regional competition ever attended. 
• The Fleet Reserve Association selected four students as winners of the essay competition, 'What Memorial Day Means to Me,' with Anna Hayes winning overall best essay.
• The wrestling team was honored with the Classic 8 Conference Sportsmanship Award.
• AHS had one National Merit Scholarship recipient and four additional semifinalists. 
• Forensics Team had many students compete in the State competition and two students moved forward to the National competition. 
• Many DECA students competed in the State competition with 10 moving onto Nationals. Additionally, three AHS DECA students were voted into state leadership roles.
• An Arrowhead junior earned a silver medal at the National Scholastic Art Competition. 
• The Arrowhead Scholarship Foundation awarded $71,000 in college scholarships to 73 senior students.
• An AHS senior was among 40 students nationwide to be invited to attend the Songbook Academy where he performed and recorded with Grammy and Emmy Award winner Michael Feinstein.
• US Senator Tammy Baldwin nominated an AHS senior for an appointment to the West Point Military Academy. 
• Cole Sandvold was the first Arrowhead student to be recognized as the WIAA Scholar Athlete of the year.
• Arrowhead's Zak Wegner was named to the Prep Soccer All American Team and also named the Gatorade Boys Soccer Player of the Year in Wisconsin.
• Of the graduates who were varsity letter athletes, 26.5% also carried a 3.5 GPA or higher. 
• Three students were recognized as high achievers in the Science Olympiad. 
• Arrowhead Warhawks won its 10th consecutive WSN Cup Large Schools trophy and beat its own score record of earning over 1,000 points during 2016-17.
• Special Education Teacher Heidi Hamilton was selected to receive an honorable Herb Kohl Fellowship Award.
• Jim Hessler was named the National Honor Society's Teacher of the Year.
• Mike Mulrooney was named as the boys cross country Coach of the Year, while Greg Budzien was named the Coach of the Year in boys golf. 
• Teacher of the Year for Arrowhead, chosen by a committee of School Board, peers, and community representatives were Jennifer Passler, Rayen Elmergreen, Jake Polancich, and Stacey Zwirlein. 
• Ten former AHS athletes and coaches were elected into the Arrowhead Athletic Hall of Fame.
• The annual Job Olympics were hosted at Arrowhead, who again won the competition. 

• Arrowhead Broadway Company's production of 'The Addams Family' earned four Tommy Awards, including the Award for Outstanding Musical.
