The study of English includes the four cornerstones of reading, writing, speaking, and listening—the basic
fundamental skills necessary for expression, interpretation, and communication. To function with selfconfidence
in today’s world, students will be expected and encouraged to use these essential skills to the
very best of their abilities.
The English Language Arts Department, therefore, has developed a varied curriculum to help develop
these necessary skills. To graduate from Arrowhead High School, students must pass eight (8) credits of
English including both semesters of English 10 and English 11.
