To foster and maintain a sense of belonging to the Arrowhead community of students, staff and families so that our students can achieve social, emotional and academic success through proactive systemic supports.
The Arrowhead Way is Arrowhead's version of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) students in a school to achieve social, emotional, and academic success. As a Response to Intervention model (RtI), PBIS applies a three-tiered system of support and a problem-solving process to enhance the capacity of schools to effecitvely educate all students. This is a proactive systems approach to: establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all data-based decision-making and aligning curricular instruction and behavioral support needs.
School's applying PBIS begin by establishing clear expectations for student and staff behavior that are taught, modeled and reinforced by all staff. This provides a host environments upporting the adoption and sustained use of social/emotional instruction. PBIS has proven its effectiveness and efficiency as an Evidence-Based Practice(Sugai & Horner, 2007). The principles and practices of PBIS are consistent with federal education mandates such as No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA).
The expectations of The Arrowhead Way, Be Appropriate, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible are directly taught and are expected to be followed by all staff and students at AHS. It is the goal of PBIS and the school overall to encourage students to understand the expectations of the high school environment to be more successful at Arrowhead and beyond. These expectations of "Be Appropriate, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible" with staff and student input in the Spring of 2011 as the general expectations and have become a strong part.
Theme of the Month
Each month will have a theme around something that is good for all students in their social, emotional, and/or academic success.
The Arrowhead Way has successfully implemented semester raffles which acknowledge students based on expectations for attendance and behavior. Donations for the raffle have been graciously donated from local organizations in the metro Milwaukee area.
Special thanks to the following vendors for their continued support for The Arrowhead Way Semester Raffles!
