Forensics is an activity for any student who is interested in acting/theatre, current events, history, public speaking, literature, or debate. Our season consists of a series of competitions (or meets) where students will test their communication skills against students from other high schools in the area and across the state. Students will choose an event to compete in and will work on a piece that they put together throughout the season. The events that they can choose from include Solo Acting, Group Acting, Speech (there are several speech events so students can speak on almost any topic), Radio Announcing, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Debate. We strive to create a team atmosphere where we can use each other’s experiences to grow and have a lot of fun in the process.
Our practices and meetings will start in December, where we will work on choosing a category and developing a piece. Our meets start as soon as we return from winter break and run through mid-April. meets are usually on Saturday mornings and run from the morning to mid-afternoon.
Our team distributes information through Canvas and email. Please contact me if you have any other questions or would like any more information.
