Intro to Ceramics

This is a semester-long course that introduces students to many different means of working with clay as an artistic medium. Students will learn pinch, slab, and coil methods of construction and begin wheel throwing. They will also experience low-fire and high-fire techniques for finishing or glazing their creations. Hand-built projects may include relief-carved masks, slab-constructed functional forms, and solid-form sculptures. Students will learn to throw basic forms on the potter's wheel.
