A four-year Varsity letter winner in soccer, Ashley Spakowitz Tarkowski led Arrowhead to a State Championship in 1998. She captured First-Team All-Conference for the four years she started for the Warhawks. In addition, Ashley made First-Team All-State her junior and senior years, and as a senior, she was named Team Captain. Ashley finished her high-school soccer career with 61 goals and 40 assists, leading her team in scoring all four years. And to cap off her senior year, Ashley made the Masonic All-Star Soccer Team.
In addition to the success she had on the soccer field, Ashley also lettered in basketball for four years at AHS and was Team Captain her senior year.
In 1999, Ashley received Arrowhead’s
Female Athlete of the Year Award.
After Arrowhead, Ashley received a scholarship to play soccer at Marquette University. In her four seasons, she appeared in 95 matches, starting 47 games. Ashley scored 16 goals, ending her career seventh on Marquette's all-time list. She moved into a starting role as a sophomore, where she scored a career season high six goals. While with Marquette, the team appeared in the NCAA Tournament four years and made the Final 8 in 2002. After college, Ashley played for the Milwaukee Kickers Club Team and was a member of the 2003 U23 National Champions.
Today, Ashley teaches first grade and serves as the athletic director at North Lake School. She met her husband, Ben Tarkowski, at Arrowhead where they served as Homecoming King and Queen in 1998. They’ve been married almost 10 years and have two daughters Lola and Freya.
