Securly is a cloud based web filtering company for K-12 schools that also focuses on student safety. Securly is CIPA (Children's Internet and Protection Act) compliant.
For our students, we will utilize a unique feature that will email parents a weekly report of your children's activities while using the district wireless.
The email you get from Securly will be sent to the email that parents provided during the registration process. It will come from this address:
support@securly.com
The subject line of the email will read “Your weekly email report for student@email.id”. Be sure to allow images in emails from securly.com.
You don't have to do anything to receive the email reports. If you do not wish to receive these reports, you will see a button in the email that allows you to unsubscribe.
Please remember Securly is a tool to help with online safety but it will never be a substitute for supervision and communication from you as the Parent. Most importantly, part of being a responsible, ethical digital citizen is making great choices in their digital lives!

Frequently Asked Questions

Arrowhead is changing filtering companies. We currently have two companies that filter and monitor Internet access, and we wanted to move to one that does everything we need it to do. Our new company (Securly) requires users to download a security certificate.
Although the download will result in the best user experience, Arrowhead wireless network users do not have to install the certificate to get filtered Internet access. If a user does not install the certificate, the user may encounter a connection-not-private error while trying to access websites.
The Children's Online Protection Act (CIPA) requires us to filter access minimally for materials that are "obscene, child pornography, or harmful to minors." Our eRate federal funding depends on us following CIPA.
No. Arrowhead is using Securly services to filter and monitor Arrowhead wireless Internet access and Arrowhead Google Apps for Education. Securly serves K12 school districts with both school-owned devices and bring-your-own device programs. Arrowhead will work with Securly to create a service that functions in the same manner as our current two filter system functions.
We only filter and monitor access on our Arrowhead network (Arrowhead wireless Internet and Google Apps for Education) and Arrowhead-owned devices. We do not monitor student-owned devices outside of our network unless students are accessing Arrowhead Google Apps for Education.
There are two Arrowhead staff who serve as Securly administrators. They provide student monitoring reports by request to administrators and educators with a student educational or behavior concern. The Securly administrators take student privacy very seriously.
The security certificate is not a monitoring program, just a certificate (1Kb). Before accessing the Internet through Arrowhead wireless, the system will check to see that you have this certificate.
No, you do not need to download the certificate if you have a Chromebook. You will, however, have to login using your Arrowhead Google credentials. You will not be able to access the Internet through the Arrowhead wireless network if you do not login with your Arrowhead Google credentials.
Yes, you will need administrative access, or have someone with that access download the certificate for you.
It depends. At school, you must login to your Arrowhead Google account to access the wireless. At home, if you login to your personal Chromebook using yourArrowhead Google account, because of the way the extension works, Securly will monitor your home use. Please login to your personal Chromebook with your personal Google account at home. School-owned Chromebooks will always be monitored.
Securly DOES monitor social media posts created while connected to Arrowhead Internet or on a Chromebook logged in to an Arrowhead account. Securly cannot see all of a student's social media, only content posted while on our network.
