CLASS OF 2021 GRADUATION
To the Parents and Students of the Class of 2021:
It is a pleasure to communicate with you as your son or daughter completes the requirements leading to high school graduation. This is an exciting time of year. In keeping with the practice of past years, we are asking the graduates in the Class of 2021 and their parents to review the contents of this letter together. We feel it is important for both student and parent to have a common understanding of the expectations we hold for students at this time of the year.
As of right now, we are planning to celebrate the graduation of the Arrowhead Senior Class of 2021 on Saturday, June 5, 2021. This event is the culmination of 13 years of hard work and dedication to the education process. Participation in the cap and gown ceremony is an important part of commencement. It is an event rich in tradition and of great meaning to the District. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are currently planning three different graduation scenarios. One is our normal ceremony, a second would be similar to last year where graduation took place over a number of days, and a third would be a hybrid where we would have the ceremony in the stadium with restricted seating allowing seniors to have four tickets each to assigned seats. As we get closer to the ceremony we will be forwarding more detailed information about which format we choose.
To insure that our graduation ceremony is a joyous time for everyone, and that the proper dignity and significance is given to this most important event, we have included a graduation ceremony commitment agreement for you and your student to read, sign and return. This completed form must be handed in to Jostens when they are at Arrowhead on March 11th in order for students to receive their cap, gown, and announcements. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, you may still do so by contacting Jostens, (262) 706-3331 or on line at Jostens.com.
Pranks and other disruptive behavior by seniors at the end of the year were an issue in the past. We need to remind you that participation by seniors in end-of-year pranks or other disruptive behavior will jeopardize the seniors' participation in the graduation ceremony, including the wearing of the cap and gown and the senior lock-in party on June 4. Students not allowed to participate in graduation and the senior party due to behavior issues will not receive a refund.
We're hopeful all students can accept their responsibilities in a mature fashion and participate in the graduation ceremony. However, it is not necessary to take part in the ceremony to receive the diploma. Students electing not to participate in the ceremony, along with students participating in the ceremony, may pick up their diploma at the high school on June 8, 9 or 10, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Enclosed with this letter is a detailed fact sheet explaining the end-of-year activities. Only students meeting all graduation requirements will be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. For those students not meeting graduation requirements, parents will be notified by June 4. We hope such calls will not be necessary, but complete academic requirements must be met before the students can participate in graduation and receive their diploma. All fees and fines must be paid prior to Friday, June 4 as well.
Finally, we would like to personally congratulate graduates and parents and express our sincere appreciation on behalf of our faculty for your help in what we believe is an educational partnership. Everyone wants the graduation to be a pleasant and memorable time. With the cooperation of the graduates, parents, and the school, the 2021 graduation ceremony will be an event of which we all can be proud.
