Kylsie Grimes
Athlete-Girls Swim
Kylsie Grimes was part of Arrowhead’s swimming dynasty from 2002-2005 and still is one of the top three swimmers in Arrowhead history. Kylsie, to this day, is one of Wisconsin’s top 10 State swim champions in WIAA history with only 6 other individuals having more state titles. She has 12 championship titles; 4 individual titles in the 100 and 200 freestyle, as well as 8 relay titles in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay. Her 2005 individual 100 and 200 performances were won by an exciting 3 seconds in each race! The 2005 200 and 400 freestyle relays broke state records. Kylsie also was an Arrowhead High School record holder for the 200 and 400 freestyle relay all 4 years, the 200 freestyle in 2004 and 2005 as well as in 2005 the 50 and 100 freestyle school record holder.
In Kylsie’s high school career under Arrowhead Athletic Hall of Fame coach Bob Jenkyns, she was a 4-year Varsity letter holder, a 4-year conference champion and a 4-year state team champion. Kylsie was a 14-time All American and 15-time Wisconsin State Coaches Association All State Swim Team honoree. She was team captain in 2005 and in that year was undefeated in the 200 freestyle.
In 2003, the team scored the most points at a WIAA state championship but broke that record again in 2005 with 407 points, a record still held today. Also in 2005, the team was overall 2nd in the nation.
Coach Jenkyns notes “Kylsie Grimes was extremely instrumental in Arrowhead’s state championships 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005! It was an extreme honor, and highlight of my coaching career, to have had the opportunity to have coached Kylsie. She is an amazing student/athlete, instilled a very positive environment for her teammate’s day in and day out, an outstanding leader, and one of the fiercest competitors in AHS history! Her successes are attributed to her incredible work ethic and goal setting. She was extremely versatile, competitive, and welcomed any challenge thrown at her. Kylsie excelled in the freestyle events of all distances. She was truly a team first swimmer who never complained about where she was put in the line-up. She just did her best for the team wherever she was needed. She led by example and had a very successful career for Arrowhead.”
Kylsie received a full 4-year scholarship to swim at Florida State University. She was a NCAA Qualifier, Florida State University record holder, 2006-2007 Rookie of the Year and all 4 of her college years earned the Warrior Award.
For the past 4 years, Kylsie has been a Regional Operations Manager managing both the West coast and Midwest at Staffmark. She also has been the Assistant Varsity Girls Swim and Dive coach for the past 3 years at Woodburry High School in Minnesota.
