Justin Wrecke
Athlete-Football, Basketball, Baseball
Justin Wrecke’s athletic career at Arrowhead High School (1989-1993) was nothing short of remarkable, leaving an indelible mark on the school’s history as a 3-sport standout in football, basketball, and baseball. His versatility and excellence across multiple disciplines earned him recognition as one of the top athletes of his time.
In football, Justin’s prowess was undeniable. A two-year Varsity player, he earned First Team All-Conference, All-Area, and Honorable Mention All-State honors. He was also named the team’s MVP and played in the prestigious Shrine Bowl. His electrifying performance on the field led to a school record for the most touchdowns over 50 yards in a single season, totaling 11. His football journey continued at Washburn University, where he set a school record by starting in 33 consecutive games as a wide receiver, earning Team Captain honors his senior year. After college, Justin went on to enjoy a highly successful 10-year career in the Arena Football League, where he played in six championships and established both team and league records in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.
Justin’s basketball career at Arrowhead was equally distinguished. A two-year varsity player, he was named First-Team All-Conference, All-Area, and Waukesha County Player of the Year, among other accolades. He helped lead the team to its first state basketball appearance in 1992, and his performance on the court was unforgettable. During his senior year, Justin averaged over 25 points per game, set a school record with 105 steals, and became the first player in school history to record a Triple-Double. He also set multiple school records in 1993 for the most 3-pointers in a game, most free throws in a game, most free throws in a season, best season free throw percentage, and most assists. He was also honored to play in the WBCA All-Star Game.
Justin was the first player in school history to play in both all-star games for football and basketball.
In baseball, Justin’s talent earned him First-Team All-Conference and All-Area Team recognition, adding to his legacy as a multi-sport athlete.
After high school, Justin transitioned into a career as an educator and coach. For over 26 years, he has taught physical education and coached football, basketball, and track in Olathe, Kansas. His commitment to developing young athletes was recognized in 2023 when he was awarded the Assistant Track Coach of the Year for the State of Kansas.
When he’s not coaching or teaching, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their two children, Emery (12) and Brigham (11). Justin is an active coach for both of his son’s basketball and football teams, where he passes on his love of sports and his commitment to excellence.
