Mike Solwold
Mike Solwold can hold up his right hand and show you a championship ring on every finger. He has two WIAA Division 1 High School Football State Championship rings for the Arrowhead Warhawks, two Big Ten Conference/Rose Bowl Championship rings for the Wisconsin Badgers and one NFL Super Bowl XXXVII ring for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While living in Ohio, Mike started playing tackle football at age 9. In 1992, his team won the conference championship while he was in 8th grade. Good thing for Arrowhead that his parents, both AHS alumni, decided to move back to Wisconsin. From 1993-96, Mike was a 3-year starter on both the Arrowhead Varsity basketball and football teams.
During his three years starting on the Varsity football team, the Warhawks recorded a 31 and 4 record, which included back-to-back Division 1 titles in 1993 and 1994. In addition, as a tight-end/long snapper for AHS, Mike received the following individual awards:
- 1996 Wisconsin Gatorade State Player of the Year
- 1996 First-Team All-American, All-State, All-Region, All-Conference
- 1996 Team Captain and MVP
- 1996 Shrine Bowl All-Star Game participant and team Co-Captain
- 1995 All-Conference
Mike was offered a full-scholarship to play football for Barry Alvarez and the Wisconsin Badgers. He turned down full rides from Notre Dame, UCLA, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida and many others. After a stellar collegiate career, Mike signed as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Minnesota Vikings in 2001. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Mike and his wife Amy currently reside in Forest Hill, Maryland, with their son Hunter (8). Mike enjoys coaching his son’s football, basketball, baseball and lacrosse teams.
