Doug Destache
Assistant Coach-Football
Doug Destache served as the consummate professional educator, both in the classroom and as a coach in multiple sports and at many different levels. To quote Coach Destache, “I believe the goal of coaching is to make the young people that participate in your program not only better players, but better overall people that will succeed in all aspects of their life”.
During the 1990’s and early 2000’s, the football coaches and players at Arrowhead earned the status of being one of the most successful programs in the history of football in Wisconsin at any level. Before and during that period of time, Coach Destache served as a Varsity assistant football coach for 23 years. Their teams made 16 playoff appearances. Nine of those years he served as the Varsity offense coordinator. Those Warhawks earned 208 victories. Arrowhead won eight Classic 8 Championships during this time period.
The Warhawks competed in the WIAA Division 1 State Championship game 7-times. We were crowned Division 1 State Champions in 1993, 94, and 96, and earned the State Runner-up recognition in 2000, 02, 03 and 06.
In 2001, Coach Destache was recognized as the Classic 8 Conference’s Assistant Football Coach of the Year. In 2014, Coach Destache was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame. In addition to Doug’s achievements as a coach, in 2007, Doug received Wisconsin’s Distinguished Teacher Award.
After retiring from coaching at Arrowhead, Coach Destache served student athletes at Sussex Hamilton High School where his teams earned 60 victories, with 8 playoff appearances and 1 conference championship.
We can’t thank Doug Destache enough for everything he has done for thousands of kids and families throughout his teaching and coaching career.
