“An outstanding leader,” wrote Arrowhead basketball head coach Pete von Allmen. He was talking about 6’2” Kathy Kamrath. She also was known as a tireless gym rat, a hard worker, a fierce competitor and a great teammate.
At Arrowhead, Kathy received four basketball letters and was a starter all four years. She mostly played post, but could shoot the ball from the outside and dribble it coast to coast against pressure. During her years at AHS, she set two school records: 1) most Varsity games played (86) and 2) most career rebounds (655). Other honors included:
- Co-captain her senior year
- Athlete of the Week
- All Braveland Conference – 2x
- All Waukesha County – 2x
- Easter Seals All-Star Game
- Summer Girls State All-Star Game
Along with her individual accomplishments, Kathy was a member of two Braveland Conference Championship teams, plus her senior year, the Warhawks participated at the State tournament, losing in the second round to the eventual State champion team.
Awarded a full scholarship, Kathy played basketball for UW-Madison for one year, before transferring to UW-Milwaukee where she finished her collegiate career.
Kathy and her husband Butch are the proud parents of Michael and Arianna – both attend Arrowhead High School. She currently works for Advanced Disposal as a Business Data Manager.
