In the school yearbook, JP Lange (a three-year Arrowhead Varsity football player from 1990-92), was featured “Up close and personal,” which highlighted him as a force to be reckoned with, both on offense and defense.
As the star quarterback in 1991, JP was the first to lead an Arrowhead football team to a State semifinals appearance. The season ended with a tough loss to Kenosha Tremper who went on to win the title. With JP playing both QB and free-safety, the AHS football program reached record levels that year.
Coach Tom Taraska called JP Lange “the best leader ever; a definite Hall of Famer.”
As a senior, JP became even a bigger fan favorite, throwing 84 total passes with zero interceptions. He was named Captain of the football team and earned All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention honors.
In addition to football, JP also played basketball and baseball, plus ran track for Arrowhead. On the basketball court, he was named All-Conference in 1992 and 1993, plus Captain in 1993. To end his brilliant high school athletic career, JP collected a total of eight Varsity letters.
JP’s athletic talents were noticed at the collegiate level as he continued to play football for the University of Iowa. He was a 3-year letter winner for the Hawkeyes.
JP currently lives with his three beautiful children in Tennessee.
