Since joining Arrowhead in 1996, Bob Jenkyns has inspired an unstoppable swimming program that has dominated the record books. Coaching the girls swim team from 1995 to 2006, and the boys team from 1995 to current, Coach Jenkyns has captured 389 dual meet titles (only 88 losses), 10 WIAA D1 Championships (second most State championships by a coach in Wisconsin history), eight WIAA D1 Runner-Up finishes, 30 WIAA D1 Top 10 Team State championship finishes, 26 WIAA Sectional championships and 25 Varsity Conference championships. He’s coached 54 individual State champions and 28 relay State champions. In addition, he has coached numerous NISCA All-Americans and Academic All-Americans, plus WISCA All-State, Academic All-State and All-Conference student athletes. Coach Jenkyns also has seen many athletes continue on to all collegiate levels through swimming scholarships.
Under Coach Jenkyns, the 2003 AHS girls swim team established a new record at the WIAA D1 State Meet for most points scored: 404. They also broke their own National Record in the 200 Medley Relay (established in 2002 by AHS). They were the second best team in the nation according to NISCA.
Additional highlights include:
- Was a featured guest speaker at the 2007 National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association National Convention, on the subject of how to successfully coordinate high school and club swimming
- Named the 2003, 2005 and 2006 National Federation of High School Coaches Association Girls Swim and Dive “Coach of the Year” for Section 4
- Named the 2001, 2004 and 2005 WISCA “High School Girls Coach of the Year,” 2002-2003 WISCA “High School Boys Coach of the Year,” and Nominated WISCA “Coach of the Year” 11 times
- Named the 2002-03 Waukesha Freeman Waukesha County High School “Coach of the Year” and the 2002-03 and 2005-06 Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel High School Boys Swimming “Coach of the Year”
- Was awarded the WISCA Outstanding Service Award – 1991
Another highlight for Coach Jenkyns was coaching his son Chris in 2008 – that team captured a state title.
