Mike Mulrooney
Miles and miles of accomplishments... That’s Arrowhead cross-country coach Mike Mulrooney. He’s been at Arrowhead for more than 30 years and inspired countless numbers of runners, turning the AHS cross country program into a state powerhouse. His teams have accumulated the following honors:
- 22 State qualifying teams
- 14 top four finishes
- 4 State champions
- 5 State runner up titles
- The 2011 team finished 8th at the Nike National CC Meet
In addition to his teams’ successes, Coach Mulrooney has been named the state’s Cross Country Coach of the Year four times and the 2012 National Federation of High School Coaches – Central Sectional Boys CC Coach of the Year, plus he was inducted into the Wisconsin CC Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2004. In 2010, Arrowhead High School named its cross country course the “Mike Mulrooney Cross Country Course” in the coach’s honor.
Coach Mulrooney also has served as President of the Wisconsin CC Coaches Association, organized the Arrowhead Christmas Charity Run (which benefited needy families), and is currently the distance chairman for the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association. Along with cross country, Coach Mulrooney has also been an assistant track coach, helping AHS win two state titles and one state runner up honor.
