John Lierk
John Lierk is the first athlete in AHS history to be crowned First Team All-State. As the basketball team’s center, John averaged 23 points per game his junior and senior seasons and he still holds the school’s single game scoring record of 45 points. During his senior year, John shot an amazing 72% from the field and his team had an undefeated Conference record. Today, John is the 9th all-time leading scorer in AHS boys basketball history.
John lettered in basketball two years and in football for three years. He earned the following honors:
- Football – All-Conference and All-State teams
- Basketball – All-Conference and All-State teams
Not just an athlete, John was also known to be a great student and was a member of the National Honor Society.
John was the first Arrowhead graduate to receive a Division 1 collegiate athletic scholarship. With offers from Northwestern, Marquette and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, John decided to play football as a Badger and he graduated with a degree in economics. Post college, John served in the US Army in Vietnam and was a stockbroker.
